BIOGRAPHY
Funkturm began recording in 1996, and is processed, programmed
and produced by Richard Gallon. Originally a studio project, Gallon is now
collaborating with various dj's & vocalists for live performance &
recordings. In a performance setting, Funkturm's mesh of skewed tunes and
hypnotic electronic rhythms are re-created and re-configured using various
analogue and digital technologies, turntables and samples.
Funkturm's organic electronica extracts and re-assembles strands of various
ambient and electronic music, creating a stimulating and unique montage
of free-flowing structures, exciting rhythms and evocative sounds, conjuring
images and sound collisions that seem simultaneously strange yet reassuring.
The latest album is planned for release on D.O.R
at the end of the year.

Live in 2009
Funkturm will perform a 25 minute improvised musical
soundtrack to Martin
Picton's short film Alta Punt Abrir. This performance will
be part of the Immersion
night at the Flea Pit,
49 Columbia Road, London E2 7RG, on 12th February 2009.
Stage time 8:30. Doors 19:00 - 23:00. Entry is FREE.

An Operation Mind Control compilation, featuring material originally released
on the Chainsaw Cassettes label is soon to be made available on CD, as part
of this cult label's re-issue series. The OMC CD will feature around 60
minutes of early recordings dating from 1985-1992, previously only available
on long-since deleted, limited-edition cassettes.
D.O.R album 'Other Voices' scheduled for release
in 2009. New material featuring a variety of collaborators.
And finally....
Funkturm's music is featured on the soundtrack of Memory of Water,
a film by Keiichi Ogata.
